Bitmain Launches Its Next-Gen Antminer T17

The wait is finally over! Bitmain, the world’s leading bitcoin mining hardware manufacturer, is finally here with its latest mining model, the Antminer T17. On April 28, 2019, the blockchain and AI development company officially announced the launch and sale of its highly anticipated Antminer T17.

The Antminer T17 is the newest addition to the Bitmain’s Antminer 17 series. This next generation mining equipment processes around 40 terahashes per second (TH/s). As of now, the Chinese ASIC producer has launched only the entry model and that also offers better power efficiency with 55 joules per terahash (J/TH). Moreover, the T17 is also equipped with second-generation TSMC 7nm semiconductors.

The Antminer T17, a single mode miner, uses an exclusive new design to improve the miner’s stability and performance. Although Antminer T17 is the entry model from the 17 series, it still offers improved stability and effectively prevents dust just like the S17 Pro and S17.

Bitmain Technologies posted on its official website, “The Antminer T17 features a power efficiency of 55 J/TH and is equipped with the new generation chip that offers deeper improvements on power efficiency, generating more income for miners. The Antminer T17 utilizes dual tube heat dissipation technology to reduce wind resistance. The space between the air inlets to the air outlet has been reduced by 50%, improving heat dissipation which further enhances the long-term operation of the miner and reduces maintenance costs for users.”

 

Antminer T17 Specifications

The Antminer T17 is designed to mine SHA256 algorithm-based digital coins including Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash. As compared to the previous T models of the company, this latest device boasts much better power efficiency. Furthermore, T17 is equipped with Bitmain’s 2nd Generation 7nm BM1397 chip and utilizes the TSMC FinFET technology. This new mining hardware promises more income for users and is priced at $1,270.

T17 offers a more stable mining experience and has a power consumption of 2200W. With a weight of about 11.5kg and a sound output of around 82dB, T17 comes with fours fans. Also, T17 is designed with three boards that utilize approx 90 BM1397 7nm chips.

The China-based mining rig manufacturer claims that this latest mining hardware will have low maintenance cost because the company has used dual tube heat dissipation technology which will minimize wind resistance to enhance long-term operability.

The ASIC miner in the Antminer 17 series also includes two other models- the Antminer S17 Pro and Antminer S17. The hash rate and power efficiency of T17 entry model are somewhat less than the other two models in the same series but it still offers similar features in regard to stability and heat dissipation. All the models in the range are capable of delivering improved power efficiency and low electricity costs because of the APW9 power supply.

This latest addition in the Antminer 17 series will be a profitable option for miners looking to diversify their operations. With the power efficiency at 55 J/TH and a hash rate of 40 TH/s, the latest T17 is definitely going to generate more income and reduce costs for mining farms.

The Chinese tech giant is set to begin shipping all the Antminer 17 models from May but will limit orders to 10 units per user, with no restrictions on shipping to China and Taiwan. In view of the Sino-US trade agreements, the US customers will need to pay a 2.6 percent tax and an additional 25 percent import duty.
